Carpenter Apprentice Job Profile and Description

The role of a Carpenter Apprentice is to assist in maintenance and construction related works. A candidate for this job is required to work under the supervision of a skilled carpenter and follow all standard safety regulations while completing tasks. Persons for such roles are mostly hired by building and highway constructors and for repair works in residential buildings.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting the carpenter in all repair, construction and maintenance works.
  • Attending on the job training for proper handling of carpentry tools.
  • Following all safety and precautionary measures while operating power tools and other equipments.
  • Meeting specified deadlines and completing all the assigned work by the supervisor.
  • Understanding the specified requirements of the client and working on the specified guidelines to accomplish the same.
  • Reading construction layouts and blueprints and systematically planning all work processes.
  • Keeping the work area clean and well organized.
  • Maintaining a daily work register and coordinating work with fellow workers.

Skills and Specifications

  • Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and efficiently execute all the tasks assigned by the carpenter.
  • Sound understanding of all safety regulations and norms for working with carpentry tools.
  • Should be a team player and have the ability of coordinating works with team members.

Education and Qualifications

  • High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree or diploma in carpentry or any other related field of study.
