Construction Materials Distributor Job Profile and Description

As evident from the name the job of a construction materials distributor is to supply all the materials required for completing the building. This will include rods, pipes, poles, bricks, cement and all the other necessary things. He is also the one responsible for poor quality material that may damage the building in future.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to the construction sites.
  • To inspect and review various projects and monitor their compliance with the building and safety codes of the state and other applicable regulations.
  • To interpret and explain contract terms and plans to the administrative staff, clients and workers representing the developer or owner.
  • To negotiate revisions and prepare contracts, additions and changes to the contractual agreements with consultants, architects, suppliers clients, and subcontractors.
  • To obtain all the necessary permits and licenses.
  • To direct and supervise the workers.
  • To study the job specifications and determine the appropriate methods of construction.
  • To select, oversee and contract workers who will complete specific parts of the project, such as plumbing or painting.
  • To make requisitions for supply of materials for completing construction projects.
  • To prepare and submit budget reports and estimates along with the progress and cost tracking ones.
  • To develop and implement quality control programs.
  • To take actions and deal with results of delays, emergencies and bad weather at site of construction.
  • To plan, organize, & direct activities concerning the construction and the maintenance of structures, systems and facilities.

Skills and Specifications

  • He should have thorough know-how about the materials available in the market.
  • He should have appropriate managerial skills to organize the workers.
  • He should be comfortable with tight schedules and tuff working conditions.

Education and Qualifications

He should hold a graduation degree in relevant field; construction and engineering. He is also required to have know how of CAD applications.
