The job of a Body Shop Estimator is basically to inspect vehicles and determine the cost of upgrading, refurbishing and repairing the same. This job is of immense expertise and skill and requires a candidate to work in a dynamic environment. Car service centers, automobile manufacturers and workshops mostly hire professionals of this genre.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interacting with customers and understanding their requirements.
  • Giving suggestions and recommendations to customers regarding their vehicle.
  • Estimating the cost and the time for the repair / up gradation of the vehicle.
  • Coordinating work processes with the technicians and other departments of the organization.
  • Keeping up with market trends and prices and competitor strategies.
  • Negotiating with customers for prices.
  • Following automobile industry safety norms and standards.
  • Taking telephonic inquires and queries of customers.
  • Meeting all assigned targets and objectives.
  • Making evaluating reports for the establishment and attending training process for new products.

Skills and Specifications

  • Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and complete all assigned tasks.
  • Sound understanding of all automotive functionalities.
  • Ability to negotiate with clients.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree or diploma in technical or automotive engineering or any other related field of study from an accredited institution.
  • Post Graduate degree or a diploma in automobile engineering or any other related discipline with 2 – 3 years experience as an auto physical damage or a body shop estimator.
