Business Analysis Job Profile and Description

A Business Analyst job has many variations depending on the company. System Analyst and Requirement Engineer Analyst are other job profiles similar to a business analyst. Their basic work is to evaluate information gathered critically from various sources.

The Business Analyst should be able to decompose high level of information into details. They have to serve as a conduit between the customer and the software development team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicating with various customers to evaluate informational needs and delivering the final product.
  • Liaising between business units and support teams.
  • Understanding customer’s needs and translating them into operational and application requirements.
  • Critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources.
  • Maintaining standards using interviews, surveys and work flow analysis.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts and developers to establish and analyzing tradeoffs between performance needs and usability.

  • Should have the observatory skills to identify the problems of the customers.
  • Should have strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Should have the makings of a good leader who can motivate people in the project.
  • Should have an urge for achievement and should be committed.
  • Should be able to deal with the users and the customers independently.
  • Should be able to multitask thereby engaging in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills required so as to manage the business.

Education and Qualifications

  • Degree in technical, management or business related field from an accredited institution.
