Business Controller Job Profile and Description

Business Controllers are required to control and regulate the finances of the company. The primary responsibility of a business controller is to supervise the department of accounts, organize the financial business offerings and create the goals of the company pertaining to matters of finance.

One reaches this position after a lot of hard work and experience and only then is able to make a transition to a controller’s profile.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishing the financial aims and objectives of the company.
  • Supervising and planning financial activities, and examining the accounting department.
  • Determining the accounting methodology used in the company.
  • Preparing financial reports for stockholders.
  • Preparing tax returns and financial reports for internal use.
  • Organizing massive fiscal moves in and out of the business.
  • Setting the budget and deciding on the amount of money being spent whenever there are new business advancements in line with the newly constructed offices.
  • Managing the budget limits when there is a dire need of making huge investments in the form of equipments and other resources.
  • Deciding the budgets for each department within the company.

Skills and Specifications

  • Knowledge of handling monetary matters.
  • Should focus on cost accounting or budget accounting.
  • Should have ERP exposure.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail.

Education and Qualifications

  • Relevant education in accounts, money and business.
  • Master’s degree in accounting or business administration from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in accounting and finance related activities.
