EKG Technician Job Profile and Description

An EKG technician is an individual who is responsible for using special equipments and various medical techniques in order to record the various electrical impulses sent out by the heart of a patient. The technician has to assist the physicians as well as cardiologists in order to diagnose the medical condition of the patients. An EKG technician usually works in a laboratory and they have no fixed work timings so they may have to be always on call and may have to come for work at odd hours. Their main duty is to handle the ECG (electro diagram) machine by attaching electrodes to the patient’s body and switching on the machine. An EKG technician may also have to move the patients and ECG machine.
