Vehicle Service Attendant Job Profile and Description

A Vehicle Service Attendant typically works in a vehicle repair or a service centre and is employed to bridge the gap between the customer and the establishment. Such persons play a significant role is determining customer satisfaction and building the market reputation of the company. Before commencing work service attendants attend an on the job training to get familiarised with the company processes and functioning.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interacting with the customers of the service centre and understanding the issues pertaining to their vehicles.
  • Inspecting their vehicles, recommending solutions and offering suggestions regarding the repairs.
  • Estimating the time and the cost of repairing the vehicle.
  • Addressing all customer queries and grievances.
  • Giving customer feedback, complaints and suggestions to the supervising manager.
  • Assisting in the billing and invoicing procedures of client vehicles.
  • Attending telephonic calls of clients and addressing their concerns.
  • Upholding the company policies and reputation while interacting with clients.
  • Familiarising customers with new schemes and plans of the store.
  • Studying the market strategies of competitor workshops and strategising to counter the same.

Skills and Specifications

  • Should have excellent written as well as verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers.
  • Sound understanding of vehicle parts and their vehicle repair processes.

Education and Qualifications

  • High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from a certified college.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree in customer relationship management or any other related discipline with about 2 – 3 years of experience as a vehicle service attendant.
