In the fashion world, it is very important for designers, corporate houses and retail stores to publicise their products and build and maintain a positive public image. Public relations (PR) specialists and publicists help these companies or individuals to do that.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • PR persons in the field of fashion need to creatively think of ways to promote and keep the company’s brand name in the public eye
  • They select information about a new fashion line or products that they would want to share with the consumers
  • They also need to write press releases and conduct press conferences in order to distribute this information different media like television, newspapers, magazines, radio and the internet
  • They are also responsible for interacting with media and answer questions, especially if there is a crisis or any problem from outside sources

Education and Qualifications

A degree or diploma in mass communication with specialisation in journalism, public relations and advertising is helpful. A degree in fashion designing and merchandising will also help the candidate know about the different nuances of the job.
